Preparing for a Police Career During the Pandemic
Last month, due to COVID-19, the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy made the difficult decision to postpone the current Police Entrance Level Training class. It is the hope that the academy can reopen as soon as it is safe to do so; we are looking forward to having our police recruits join the CCSO family.
Despite the academy’s closure, the CCSO Recruiting Section is currently seeking qualified candidates to apply for Police and Corrections Officer positions. If you or someone you know has what it takes and is looking for a stable career that offers a competitive salary, great benefits, and the opportunity to serve your community, becoming a Police Officer or Corrections Officer may be the answer.
Here is how to start the application process and prepare for a rewarding career:
- Visit our website to determine if you are eligible.
- Fill out our application. A recruiter will be in contact with you.
- Prepare for the physical agility test. Details on the requirements can be found here.
Stay in contact with your recruiter, and be as prepared as possible for the physical agility test and oral board interview. We want you to join the CCSO family too, and we look forward to the academy reopening.
