The focus of the Voluntary Registry Program (VRP) is to maintain an awareness of citizens who have physical, behavioral, developmental, and/or sensory needs. The program is intended for individuals who may be unable to respond appropriately or identify themselves to law enforcement; individuals who may wander as a symptom of a disability and get lost; and individuals who are nonverbal or unable to communicate. It will be extraordinarily helpful for officers to have information regarding diagnosis, triggers, and tendencies during interaction.

  • Please provide the most accurate and current information available.
  • Once the information is received, the Charles County citizen will be entered into the CCSO local database / Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
  • The CAD system is “Law Enforcement Sensitive” and not accessible by the public in general. Any employee with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office who accesses the local database has successfully completed a comprehensive background investigation. Any data given will be safe, secure, and all users of the system have been properly vetted.
  • The information provided by individuals or caregivers to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office WILL NOT be subject to the Maryland Public Information Act.
