Attention Parents of Young Drivers:

Did you know car crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers and young adults in the country? In fact, every 15 minutes, someone dies in a car crash somewhere in our nation. As you know, we care about our teen drivers here in Charles County. We are actively engaged in educating them about the dangers of impaired driving, as well as distracted driving and aggressive driving. This video was recently filmed at two of our high schools (we try to bring the event to two high schools every year). It’s a mock crash showing the impact of driving under the influence. The video was produced by Brent Huber –who works for Charles County government – and the actors are local high school students. In their words, “This event made me think.” Since starting this program several years ago, fatalities involving teen drivers have decreased significantly in our county. We attribute much of this to educating our young adults about the dangers of driving while impaired, distracted driving and aggressive driving.
