TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO RECOVERY OF ILLEGAL PILLS: On Jan. 10 at 1:46 a.m., Officer N. Garner initiated a traffic stop on Wharf Road near Hawthorne Road in La Plata after spotting a car with expired tags. PFC K. Burger assisted. While PFC Burger was speaking with a passenger, he observed a large plastic cylinder of suspected marijuana. Further investigation led to the discovery of 164 suspected Oxycodone pills, 2 suspected Oxycontin pills and 11 unknown white pills along with a digital scale and drug wrapping papers. The pills have a street value of about $5,000. The marijuana recovered was approximately 1.65 ounces with a street value of about $500. Christopher Wayne Regalia, 23, of Bryans Road; Kalin Lamor Barbour, 22, of Bryans Road and Michael Ryan Heckman, 21, of Indian Head, were charged with possession of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
THEFT: On Jan. 9 at 3:15 a.m., officers responded to the 11000 block of Mt. Victoria Road in Newburg after a witness called to report a car at a vacant house. When officers arrived, they learned the witness actually saw the car about an hour prior to calling police. Officers canvassed the house and found someone broke in and stole piping. PFC J.L. Clagett is investigating.
OFFICERS APPREHEND THEFT SUSPECTS: On Jan. 8 at 1:42 p.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road for the report of a theft that just occurred at a grocery store. Officer J. Micklus and PFC T. Yates arrived and obtained a description of the suspects and their vehicle. PFC Yates canvassed the area and located the suspect’s car at a nearby grocery store in Prince George’s County. Upon approaching the car, PFC Yates observed Arthur West Carroll, Sr., 88, of Suitland in the driver’s seat. He also saw numerous grocery items inside the car. As PFC Yates was obtaining information from Carroll, he observed Trichita Lavenig Gilbert, 38 and Ronald Andre Carter, 52, both of Washington D.C. exit the grocery store with a cart full of stolen items. They were apprehended without incident. Then, a fourth suspect, Gerald Edmondson, 54, of Capital Heights exited the store with stolen goods but he fled after seeing officers at the car. PFC S. Bryant, who was at the car and assisting, apprehended Edmondson and recovered the stolen merchandise. All four suspects were charged with theft. Carter and Carroll had outstanding summonses for previous thefts in Charles County. Carter had an open warrant from Prince George’s County and Gilbert had an outstanding warrant from Hagerstown. In all, officers recovered about $650 worth of items stolen from the grocery store in Bryans Road and about $1,000 in stolen goods from the store in Prince George’s County.
ROBBERY: On Jan. 8 at 3:35 p.m., a woman said she was walking on a foot trail in the 3100 block of Knolewater Court in Waldorf when a male approached her, pushed her to the ground and stole her cell phone. Officer S. Hooper is investigating.
THEFT SUSPECTS APPREHENDED: On Jan. 8 at 8:26 a.m., officers responded to Greenwood Place in Indian Head for the report of a theft in progress. A homeowner said a man and a woman drove up to his yard and loaded his ATV into the back of a minivan and fled after being detected. PFC T. Yates observed the van near Hawthorne Road and saw the ATV in the rear, hanging halfway out of the door. PFC Yates initiated a traffic stop and approached the driver who initially provided a false name. A computer check revealed the driver’s true identity as James Earl Rohme, 35, of Bryans Road. A records check revealed he was wanted for a theft. In addition, a license check revealed he was driving on a revoked license and it appeared he was intoxicated. The woman, Gloria Lynn Adams, 36, of Leonardtown was in possession of illegal prescription medication. The couple’s two-year-old child, who was in the back seat, was placed with child protective services. Rohme and Adams were charged with burglary and theft.
