Charles County Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said a warrant sweep conducted on Oct. 16 by members of the CCSO Judicial Services Section, COPS Unit, TAC Squad and Traffic Operations Unit resulted in the arrests of 13 people wanted in connection with domestic-related offenses. A total of 17 warrants were served during the week-long operation.
October marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and every year, during a designated week in October, law enforcement agencies throughout the country participate in the Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail in which officers focus their efforts on serving outstanding domestic-related warrants in their jurisdiction.
Sheriff Coffey said operations like this are important. “These types of offenses have a serious impact on victims but the offenders are sometimes difficult to locate. During this sweep, our officers coordinated information and combined resources with other law enforcement agencies including the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police to locate these individuals, bringing a sense of justice to the victims of these crimes.”
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of persons wanted by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office is asked to call 301-932-3060 or 301-932-2222.
