OFFICERS APPREHEND TRIO IN SHOPLIFTING CASE: On Oct. 5 at 6:54 p.m., officers responded to Mall Circle for the report of a shoplifting in progress. The caller indicated store security had apprehended one suspect but two other suspects had fled in a white Chevrolet Impala. Officers spotted the suspects nearby and stopped them. Upon further investigation, officers found the suspects to be in possession of $509 worth of stolen merchandise, a small amount of marijuana, and $1,000 in cash. A check of the suspects’ identities revealed they were related: a mother, son and daughter. Fern Woodfork, 45, her son, Brian Joseph Lee, 27, and a 17-year-old female, all of Georgia, were charged with theft. Woodfork also had an open warrant from Montgomery County for felony theft. Sgt. H. Smith and Cpl. C. Campbell made the arrests.

THEFTS FROM AUTOS: Between Oct. 8 – Oct. 9, two catalytic converters were stolen from cars parked in a fenced in area of an auto business in the 11000 block of Billingsley Road in White Plains. Officer M. Wagner is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Oct. 9, a homeowner reported someone stole two extension cords and a spotlight from his detached garage in the 14000 block of Poplar Hill Road in Waldorf. Pfc P. Alvarez is investigating.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: On Oct. 9 at 5:39 p.m., Pfc D. Graham was patrolling the 6900 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head when he received an alert from a TAG reader indicating a stolen car was in his vicinity. Pfc Graham obtained the description of the vehicle and spotted the car nearby. He initiated a traffic stop and upon approaching the driver, detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver, Jerome Odell Wilson, 57, of Indian Head, was arrested after a computer check confirmed the car was stolen. A small amount of marijuana was also recovered in the car. Wilson was charged with DUI and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
