THEFT FROM AUTO REPORTED: On Aug. 19, a report was made that someone stole money and cigarettes from an unlocked car in the 18100 block of Piedmont Drive in Cobb Island. The victim reported gasoline had also been siphoned from her vehicle. Officer A. Sullivan is investigating.

THEFTS FROM AUTOS REPORTED: On Aug. 19 between 1 a.m. – 5 a.m., someone reportedly stole a pair of sunglasses from a car parked in the 11600 block of Port Royal Avenue in White Plains. Another car, which was parked inside a garage on the same street, was also reportedly broken into and a wallet was stolen. Officer C. Long is investigating.

WHEELS STOLEN: Between Aug. 18 – Aug. 19, someone stole four tires and rims from a car parked in the 2600 block of Rooks Head Place in Waldorf. Officer C. Garner is investigating.

ATTEMPT THEFT FROM AUTO: Between Aug. 16 – Aug. 18, someone attempted to break into two vans parked in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Gough Drive in Waldorf. Nothing was stolen but there was damage to the vehicles. Officer P. Morgan, III is investigating.

MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF DRUGS: On Aug. 18 at 9:44 p.m. Officer J. Morales spotted a suspicious car in the 1100 block of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf. Upon approaching the car, the officer found crack/cocaine and a smoking device. The driver, Ian Edward Bates, 46, of Waldorf, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

COUPLE CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF DRUGS WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: On Aug. 16 at 11:23 p.m., Officer C. Curtis was responding to a call in the 3000 block of Waldorf Market Place. As he entered the parking lot, a vehicle passed by him driving on the wrong side of the roadway. Officer Curtis swerved to avoid a collision and turned to stop the car. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Curtis smelled a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from the car. Further investigation revealed the occupants, Calvin DePaul Watson, 19, of Fort Washington, and Zackia Zene Hammond, 19, of Washington, D.C., were in possession of 8 small bags of suspected marijuana, 7 small bags containing suspected marijuana residue, approximately 200 unused small bags and other smoking paraphernalia. Both occupants were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Aug. 15 at 10:57 a.m., a male suspect grabbed a bank deposit bag from the hands of someone getting ready to make a deposit at a bank in the 3600 block of Waldorf Marketplace. The suspect fled, possibly in a dark colored car. Officers and a police K9 team canvassed the area. PFC M. Bourgeois investigated.
