SUSPECT CHARGED AFTER SHOOTING ACQUAINTANCE: On February 4 at 9:16 p.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Barnett Smith Place in Indian Head for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to his back. The victim was flown to a hospital with serious injuries. An investigation revealed that Thomas Michael Smith, 69, of Indian Head was responsible for the shooting which took place during an argument between Smith and the victim, who was an acquaintance. Smith was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Detective J. Elliott is investigating.
