BURGLARY: Sometime between Nov. 16 and Nov. 23, someone broke into an unoccupied house in the 6600 block of Hawkins Gate Road in La Plata and stole several firearms, tools and money. Officers believe the suspect entered the house through an unlocked basement door. Officer R. Snyder is investigating.
FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Nov. 22 at about 11 a.m., officers from the US Marshals Service and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to serve an arrest warrant for a suspect who was wanted by the Metropolitan Police Department for a robbery. Detectives received information David Tyrone Robinson, 21, of Washington, D.C. was staying at the Relax Inn in Bel Alton. Officers observed Robinson exit the room at which time they placed him under arrest. During the arrest, a 43-year-old male came out of the room and indicated he had been shot earlier, prior to police arrival. Officers observed a gunshot wound to the man’s upper body. He was transported to a hospital with a non life-threatening injury. CCSO detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing the investigation but at this point, the man has not provided additional information. Det. J. Elliott is investigating.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Nov. 22 during the overnight hours, someone threw a large boulder through the windshield of a car parked in the 4600 block of Harwich Drive in Waldorf. Officers canvassed the area and no other cars were damaged. Cpl. R. Heishman is investigating.
OFFICERS APPREHEND SUSPECT PASSING COUNTERFEIT MONEY: On Nov. 19 at 5 p.m., officers were called to the St. Charles Town Center for the report of a man who tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill. The man was leaving the mall when Officer E. Scuderi spotted him. The suspect saw Officer Scuderi and fled. Officer T. Yates, who was on holiday patrol, saw the man run across Crain Highway and pursued the suspect on foot. Officer Yates apprehended the man behind a gas station. Gregory Thomas Langley, 19, of Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with theft and resisting arrest. Further investigation showed Langley was able to successfully pass a counterfeit bill at one of the stores.
ARMED ROBBERY/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On Nov. 19 at 2:03 p.m., officers responded to a dry cleaning store in the area of St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. Two men entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspects fled. Officers and a police K-9 searched the area and detectives are pursuing leads.
