Access Public Records

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office complies with Maryland law governing access to public records. Requests for public records shall be submitted under the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA).

MPIA requests must be submitted using our agency portal located under the “Records Request” tab on the main page of our website, or by clicking here.

Your request should include specific details about the information you are seeking.

The agency fee schedule is included below.

  • Police Incident Report/Event Listing/Call Sheet – $10.00 each
  • Motor Vehicle Crash Report – $10.00 each
  • Photos – $15.00
  • Video Recording – $65.00 each
  • Audio Recording – $65.00 each

A research fee will be charged (first 2 hours, no charge, a minimum of $25.00/hr. thereafter).

*Fees are waived for a Report of Death (next of kin), Domestic Violence reports (for victims), and Fatal Crash reports (next of kin).*

All invoices will be generated through the portal for electronic payment. Materials will not be released until the payment is received.
