The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate assault incidents involving multiple students at Henry E. Lackey High School on October 5 and October 8. On October 8, at approximately 11:28 a.m., a fight broke out in the cafeteria during lunch. The altercation between two students quickly escalated as other students joined in. Administrators, teachers, and the school resource officer intervened, and additional officers responded to help restore order. No serious injuries were reported. This followed an incident on October 5 in which seven students were involved in a fight inside the school. One student was struck from behind, leading to a larger altercation. A teacher was struck while attempting to intervene and received medical attention. One student also sustained minor injuries. The students involved in both cases, ranging in ages from 14 to 16, will be charged and they also face disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Charles County Public Schools code of student conduct. PFC Barry is continuing to investigate.
