A Message from Sheriff Troy D. Berry
As Sheriff of Charles County, it is my honor to present the Charles County Sheriff’s Office 2025 Annual Report. This report reflects a year of progress and dedication made possible by more than 650 sworn and civilian professionals who proudly serve our community every day.
As Charles County continues to grow and law enforcement agencies across the country face staffing challenges, our mission remains clear: keep our community safe, prevent crime, and build strong relationships with the people we serve. Our team uses modern tools such as digital forensics, drones, and body-worn cameras to investigate crime and strengthen accountability. We also work closely with local, state, and federal partners to stay ahead of crime trends and respond effectively.
Just as important is our work with young people. In recent years, we have expanded youth engagement through school visits, our School Resource Officer program, after-school mentoring, summer sports programs, and this year, we added a new Youth Engagement Unit to address youth-related issues proactively and directly. These efforts help build trust and create positive connections between officers and the youth of our community. We also continue to work closely with community organizations, local leaders, and service providers to address issues affecting our neighborhoods and provide support where it is needed most.
Our employees are the heart of this agency. Policing can be demanding, and we remain committed to supporting the health and well-being of our personnel through wellness programs, peer support, and continued training that helps them serve with professionalism and confidence.
I am grateful for the continued trust and support of the Charles County community. Public safety is a shared responsibility, and together we will continue working to keep Charles County a safe and welcoming place for all.
Sincerely,
Troy D. Berry
