FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On April 28 at 6:23 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of University Drive in Waldorf for the  report of a shooting.  When officers arrived, they located a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated and released. Investigation showed the victim was near the basketball courts when a male suspect exited a car and fired a shot at him. Detectives are working several leads, and at this point the shooting does not appear to be random. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. J. Elliott at (301) 609-6515. DETECTIVES SEEK SUSPECT IN ATTEMPTED HOME INVASION/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On  April 25 at 9:11 p.m., officers responded to Fairgrounds Road in La Plata for an attempted home invasion. The homeowners reported they heard a knock at their door and when they answered, an unknown male wearing a red bandana was standing on their porch with a shotgun. The homeowner shut the door but the suspect attempted to kick it in. The suspect fled and the victim called police. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late twenties, 5’11”, with a slender build, light brown hair, and blue eyes. Anyone with information regarding this incident and other suspicious incidents in this area is asked to contact Detective Celia at (301) 609-6518.
