DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Oct. 13 between 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) kicked in the front door of a house on Jameson Court in Indian Head. Entry was not gained and nothing was reported stolen. Cpl R. Cadrette is investigating.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: Between Oct. 10 – Oct. 13, unknown suspect(s) broke into a construction lot in the 6000 block of Rose Hill Road in La Plata and stole tools and equipment. PFC J. Campbell is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Oct. 11 between 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) gained entry inside a house in the 4100 block of Lancaster Circle in Waldorf. The homeowner arrived home and found the front door damaged and called police. Officers and a police K9 searched the house but no one was inside. The victim reported several pairs of shoes were stolen. PFC K. Newman is investigating.
OFFICER RECOVERS STOLEN MOTORCYCLE: On Oct. 12 at 12:02 a.m., Officer J. Hatfield was in the area of Crain Highway and Leonardtown Road in Waldorf when she observed the operator of a Suzuki motorcycle commit a traffic violation. As Officer Hatfield turned to initiate a traffic stop, the driver cut across the parking lot of a shopping center, hit a curb and fell to the ground. A computer check revealed the motorcycle had been reported stolen in Washington, D.C. The operator, 32, of Accokeek was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries he sustained in the crash. Charges are pending.
STRONG-ARMED ROBBERY: On Oct. 11 at 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 4500 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head for the report of a robbery. Investigation showed the victim had just purchased a soda and other items at a store and as he left, he was approached by a lone male who grabbed the items and fled. The victim went back inside the store and purchased the same items. As he walked through the parking lot of a nearby business, several males, including the same one who robbed him moments before, approached and knocked him to the ground. They stole his cell phone and the items he had just purchased. The suspects fled and the victim went back to the business and called police. He was subsequently transported to a hospital where he was treated for injuries he received during the assault. PFC F. Davis, Jr. is investigating.
MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS: On Oct. 10 at about 8 a.m., Lt. B. Caywood and Sgt. H. Smith were monitoring the Smallwood Park and Ride in Waldorf when they observed apparent drug transactions taking place. Officers closed in and after further investigation found Christopher Lamar Wells, 22, of Indian Head in possession of marijuana in quantities intended to sell. Wells was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs.
LOJACK HIT LEADS OFFICERS TO THREE STOLEN MOTORCYCLES. On Oct. 10 at 12:13 a.m., PFC C. Shaw was in the area of Crain Highway and Mckendree Road in Brandywine when he received a LoJack signal that a possible stolen motorcycle was nearby. PFC Shaw and other patrol officers investigated further and narrowed the signal to a gas station in the 16000 block of McKendree Road in Prince George’s County. PFC Shaw and members of the Prince George’s County police department and the Maryland State Police responded and found three stolen motorcycles on a trailer attached to an SUV. All three motorcycles had been stolen. The driver of the SUV and a passenger were arrested and charged in Prince George’s County.
