MAN CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On Oct. 16 at 9:03 p.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the report of a shooting inside a house. The caller indicated he left his house for a short period of time and when he returned home, he found his 1-year-old pit bull dog with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim stated his brother, who lives with him, shot the dog with a shotgun and was still in possession of the gun. Officers arrived and recovered a 410 shotgun from the suspect. They also found the dog inside his kennel which was inside the house. Officers and animal control personnel attempted to treat the dog, but the dog had already died. William Haight, 59, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment.
BURGLARY: On Oct. 15 between 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., someone broke into a house in the 3600 block of Elsa Avenue in Waldorf and stole two televisions and four cell phones. Officer J. Micklus is investigating.

BURGLARY: Between Oct. 3 – Oct. 15, someone broke into a vacant house in the 8500 block of Port Tobacco Road in La Plata and stole copper piping. Cpl. C. Long is investigating.

THEFT: Between Oct. 11 – Oct. 15, a homeowner reported someone stole an ATV from the back of his porch in the 5900 block of Kripple Kreek Place in La Plata. The ATV is blue and white and had a key in the ignition. Pfc T. Smith is investigating.

THEFT: Between Oct. 11 – Oct. 15, someone broke into an unlocked barn in the 10000 block of Demarr Road in White Plains and stole bags of sulfur, vegetable grower and six bags of potting soil. Cpl. T. Lee is investigating.

BURGLARY: Between Oct. 13 – Oct. 14, someone broke into a house that is being renovated in the 7000 block of Ann Harbor Place in Port Tobacco and stole wiring. Pfc J. Walter is investigating.

MOTORCYCLE STOLEN: Between Oct. 12 – Oct. 14, someone stole a motorcycle from a detached garage in the 9600 block of Andover Drive in Faulkner. The owner said the bike is a mini version of a chopper but did not know the make and model of the vehicle. Pfc J. Walter is investigating.

DRUG ARREST: On Oct. 13 at 1:42 a.m., Officer S. Hooper was checking on a suspicious vehicle in the 3000 block of October Pace in Waldorf. After suspecting drugs were present, a request was made for a drug detection dog. Officer C. Shaw and his K9 partner, Denny, responded and Denny indicated a presence of suspected drugs. The driver exited the car and a PCP dipper fell out of the driver’s pants leg. Shuane Anthony Gary, 33, of Waldorf, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: On Oct. 12 at 8:33 a.m. a witness reported seeing a white male going through a neighbor’s mailbox in the area of Jefferson Road in Waldorf. The man did not live at the house. The witness was not sure if the man actually took something but he left in a dark colored vehicle. Pfc P. Morgan, III is investigating.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Oct. 12 at 11:54 a.m., the victim was leaving a bank in the 3000 block of Waldorf Market Place where he had just picked up a bank deposit bag for his business. As he walked back to his car, someone jumped out of another car and grabbed the bag. The suspects fled in a tan colored vehicle. Pfc J. Morales is investigating.

DRUG ARREST: On Oct. 12 at 1:20 a.m., Officer C. Collins initiated a traffic stop in the area of Crain Highway and Smallwood Drive in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation. After performing a series of field sobriety checks, a police K9 was called to the scene. Officer C. Shaw and his K9 partner Denny, responded and Denny alerted to the presence of drugs inside the car. Officers found numerous bottles of prescription medications and smoking paraphernalia and a straw containing suspected drug residue. Kyle Christopher Graves, 24; Charity Marie Rogers, 25; and Christopher Paul Mason, 25, all of Hughesville, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

DRUG ARREST: On Oct. 12 at 12:30 a.m., Officer J. Fenlon was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 11900 block of Business Park Drive in Waldorf. During the stop, he found marijuana and crack/cocaine inside the vehicle. The occupants, Reginald Delonte Thomas, 22, of Great Mills; Ronald Devon Young, 40, of Lexington Park; Michael Terrelle Hebb, 23, of Leonardtown; Wayne Anthony Briscoe, 44, of Great Mills and Shavrone Arigo Mackall, 35, of Great Mills, were charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

BURGLARY: Between Oct. 10 – Oct. 11, someone broke into a hair salon in the 2700 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf and ransacked the business. It does not appear anything was stolen. The scene was processed for evidence. Pfc P. Morgan, III is investigating.
