On Sept. 25 at 1:53 a.m., officers responded to the 10400 block of Popes Creek Road in Newburg for the report of a shooting. The caller indicated he was in a car and he and his friend had been shot at a different location. Investigators with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office are searching for John Paul Spicer, 86, of Waldorf who was reported missing this morning. Spicer, who has dementia and Alzheimer’s, was last seen on Sept. 18 at about 4 p.m. when he left his house on Pompano Court in his 2005 beige/gray Toyota Camry with MD registration plates 8APT18. Charles County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of Lana Woo Hiland, 34, of Waldorf who was found deceased on Sunday, Sept. 18 inside a hotel room in Waldorf. Two School Zones Added to Automated Speed Enforcement Program

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office Automated Speed Enforcement Unit will be adding two new school zones to the automated speed enforcement program. The new locations are T.C. Martin Elementary School, 6315 Oliver Shop Road in Bryantown, and St. Charles High School, 5305 Piney Church Road in Waldorf.
